Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • We are seeking a Senior level Cognos Developer w/ essential skills with Adaptive Analytics and Adaptive Warehousing.
  • Must have strong communication skills and a great positive can-do attitude able to thrive in adverse and changing environments.
  • Work side by side with Oracle EBSdevelopment team to come up with innovative solutions to replace existing Oracle Discoverer reports and help design foundation for ad hoc reporting by business.
  • Work directly with business users and functional analysts and in comprehending business requirements and modeling appropriate Business Analytics metrics and KPI reports to meet these requirements.
  • Provide reporting, analysis and insightful recommendations to business leaders on key performance metrics pertaining to finance, Sales, Marketing, purchasing, manufacturing and warehouse operations.
  • Lead and participate in new development requests, enhancements, and project initiatives. 
  • Provide team leadership to BI staff while collaborating and coordinating with other Business applications and End user teams.
  • Follow and implement Business Intelligence best practices and architectural standards.
  • Support existing Cognos reports and fine tuning the reports for optimal performance.

  • Troubleshoot B Iproblems. Identify, coordinate and help resolve the root cause of day to day production issues.
  • Collaborate with Oracle Analyst and to identify and resolve data quality issues.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting in response to requests from end users.
  • Creates user documentation and deliver end user training as required.
  • Understand and comply with the applicable SDLC.
  • Provide guidance on best practices for setting up and deploying Cognos reporting solution  
  • Be a subject matter expert on Cognos tools.
  • Coach / mentor other team members as appropriate to facilitate their professional development. 
  • Some travel involved on an as needed basis.
Qualifications:

 

Required Skills

  • Adaptive Analytics and Adaptive Warehousing are critical
  • Cognos analytic applications, adaptive warehouse, Framework Manager, Query Studio, Report Studio, Oracle Developer, OLAP, SQL, Oracle Applications 11.5.10 or R12.
  • Strong technical knowledge of and hands on experience with Business Intelligence techniques including but not limited to Analytics, Data Mining, Data Warehouse, Reporting and Dashboards.
  • Strong technical knowledge of COGNOS (BI tools) including use of Framework Manager, Cognos AA reports, Cognos Report studio (incl. Active Report), Analysis Studio, Query Studio, transformer, Event Studio, Metric Stuido is essential.
  • Cognos Administration and extensive security experience a must.
  • Extensive knowledge on data visualization techniques and dashboard design is essential.
  • Experience working with Oracle E-business Application 11.5.10 or R12 is a definite plus.
  • Extensive programming experience in SQL & PL/SQL essential.  Optimization experience a plus.
  • Technical skills in Cognos analytic applications, adaptive warehouse modeling is a definite plus.
  • Java Scripting, HTML, and leveraging GIS within Cognos a definite plus. Experience in working for a manufacturing company is desirable.
  • Knowledge of database performance factors, monitoring tools and tuning procedures.
  • Experience and advanced knowledge of logical and physical database modeling concepts and techniques.
  • Performance of various roles in DW / BI development efforts (developer, tester, lead, PM, business  analyst, etc).
  • Understand normalized and star-schema (dimensional) physical models and logical modeling concepts.
  • Experience with a variety of sources (EBS, XML, Oracle, flat file, excel spreadsheets, transactional (OLTP) sources, etc).

 

Educational/Experience Requirements:

 

Bachelors Degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering/IT/CS plus five years of progressive experience in computer systems analysis /software engineering with technical knowledge of Cognos BI
